Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Frosting
  • 1 cup heavy cream chilled
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Toppings
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Prepare the Frosting
  1. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
Assemble the Cake
  1. Once the cake is cool, spread the whipped cream frosting evenly over the top.
  2. Arrange the strawberries in a rectangle in the top left corner to create the stars and stripes.
  3. Fill in the remaining space with blueberries and raspberries to complete the flag design.
  4. Slice and serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
