- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the beef is cooked through and the onion is tender.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped cabbage, cooked beef mixture, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and spread evenly.
- In a separate bowl, combine the bread crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the casserole.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
