Ingredients
  

Bruschetta Topping
  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
Bread
  • 1 loaf French bread sliced

Method
 

Prepare the Topping
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside to allow flavors to meld.
Toast the Bread
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the sliced French bread on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
Assemble the Bruschetta
  1. Remove the toasted bread from the oven and top each slice with the prepared tomato mixture. Serve immediately.
