Ingredients
  

Squash
  • 2 medium Yellow Squash sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour for coating
  • 1 cup Cornmeal for coating
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Buttermilk for dipping
  • 4 cups Vegetable Oil for frying

Method
 

Prepare the Squash
  1. Slice the yellow squash into thin rounds and set aside.
Prepare the Coating
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dip each squash slice into buttermilk, then coat with the flour mixture.
Fry the Squash
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry the coated squash slices in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve
  1. Serve hot as an appetizer or side dish.
