Method
Prepare the Cake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Make the Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
Decorate the Cake
- Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
- Arrange sliced strawberries in a rectangle on the top left corner to represent the stripes.
- Place blueberries in the top left corner to represent the stars.
- Serve with whipped cream on the side.
