Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh cherries pitted and halved
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust based on sweetness of cherries
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for thickening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the fresh cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Toss until cherries are well coated.
  3. Transfer the cherry mixture to a baking dish.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, sliced almonds, and cinnamon until crumbly.
  2. Spread the topping evenly over the cherry mixture in the baking dish.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
