Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup guava puree fresh or canned
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • 1 cup sliced guava for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the guava puree, until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve
  1. Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar and garnish with sliced guava.
  2. Slice and serve to enjoy the tropical flavors.
