Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 teaspoons Kashmiri green tea leaves
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream optional for richness
  • 2 tablespoons sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons chopped almonds for garnish

Method
 

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
  2. Add 4 teaspoons of Kashmiri green tea leaves and 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the boiling water.
  3. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mixture reduces and darkens.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of milk and stir well.
  5. (Optional) Add 1 cup of heavy cream for extra richness and mix thoroughly.
  6. Sweeten the chai with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder, adjusting to taste.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped pistachios and almonds.
