Ingredients
  

Portobello Burgers
  • 4 pieces Portobello mushrooms stems removed
  • 1/4 cup Balsamic vinegar for marinating
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil for marinating
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper to taste
  • 4 pieces Burger buns preferably whole grain
  • 4 slices Cheese optional, such as mozzarella or cheddar
  • 1 cup Lettuce for topping
  • 1 medium Tomato sliced
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise optional, for spreading

Method
 

Marinate the Mushrooms
  1. In a bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add portobello mushrooms and coat them well. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Grill the Mushrooms
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated portobello mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until tender and grill marks appear.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes. Place a grilled portobello mushroom on each bun, add a slice of cheese if desired, and top with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. Close the burgers and serve immediately.
