Method
Marinate the Mushrooms
- In a bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add portobello mushrooms and coat them well. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Grill the Mushrooms
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated portobello mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until tender and grill marks appear.
Assemble the Burgers
- Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes. Place a grilled portobello mushroom on each bun, add a slice of cheese if desired, and top with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. Close the burgers and serve immediately.
