Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup blue food coloring
Coating
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Color one portion with red food coloring and the other with blue food coloring.
Shape and Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Using a scoop, take small portions of each colored dough and roll them into balls.
  3. Roll the dough balls in powdered sugar to coat them completely.
  4. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the tops are crinkled.
  6. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
