Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, cream together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions. Color one portion with red food coloring and the other with blue food coloring.
Shape and Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Using a scoop, take small portions of each colored dough and roll them into balls.
- Roll the dough balls in powdered sugar to coat them completely.
- Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the tops are crinkled.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
