Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling and Topping
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream for whipping
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar for sweetening cream

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Assemble the Cake
  1. Once the cake is completely cool, slice it in half horizontally.
  2. Spread a layer of whipped cream on the bottom half and top with sliced strawberries.
  3. Place the top half of the cake back on and cover the entire cake with whipped cream.
  4. Garnish with additional strawberries on top.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, ripe strawberries. You can also add a layer of strawberry jam for extra flavor.
